The 2008 Saint-Aubin Clos de la Chatenière 1er Cru has an attractive wet wool, lanolin, damp moss scented nose, fully mature and well defined. The palate is well balanced with a fine a bead of acidity, citrus fresh, maybe a little nutty in style with a spicy finish. Fine

Bright lemon-yellow. Ripe aromas of yellow peach and spices. Quite suave and stylish on entry, then ripe but dry in the middle, with suggestions of exotic fruits firmed on the back end by an oyster-shell minerality. With aeration, ripe but vibrant stone fruit notes emerged and the long, brisk finish retained strong minerality. In 2009 and 2005, fruit in Saint-Aubin generally ripened quickly, noted Lamy, while in 2008 it took much longer to ripen and necessitated late picking.
