This was one of the first wines I ever tasted from Ganevat in the 2006 vintage, and I immediately fell in love with it. It had the purity of the Chablis from the Chardonnay and the attenuated Jura twang of the wines from Macle. I've been a follower ever since, and I drink and buy his wines whenever I encounter them, which is getting harder and harder. Always among his top wines, the 2012 Cotes du Jura Chardonnay les Grands Tepees Vieilles Vignes is closed, tight, and serious from vines planted in 1911 on red marl and gravel soils; it is produced with indigenous yeast and bottled unfined, unfiltered and without any added sulfur. The palate is both concentrated, sharp, long, mineral and tasty, again making you salivate and very apt for the table. Ideal with a truffle and parsnip risotto (I did it!). This is young but should have a long life in bottle, gaining in complexity and nuances, keeping the initial idea; it has Raveneau-like precision with a Jura twang. Other-worldly!
