Tasting notes
Vivid red. Lively aromas of strawberry and raspberry, with notes of white pepper and fresh flowers adding complexity. Light on its feet (especially considering that it carries at least 15% alcohol) and focused, offering tangy red fruit flavors and a note of candied lavender. Becomes warmer with air and finishes with very good breadth and sweet persistence.

A consistently excellent estate, Luc Perrin established this domaine in 1969. Normally two Chateauneuf du Pape cuvees are produced, but in the challenging 2008 vintage, only the traditional wine is offered. Importer: T. Edward Wines, New York, NY; tel. (212) 233-1504
Bright red. Sexy aromas of fresh red berries, incense and flowers, with a gentle kiss of smoky minerals. Light-bodied, pinot-like red fruit flavors are brightened by blood orange and deepened by a candied violet quality. Finishes supple and persistent.
Grenache Noir 75%, Syrah 12%, Mourvèdre 8%, mixed 5%. Aged in a mixture of containers including 20% in barriques . Sweet and round, but a bit slack and open. (JR)
