(destemmed): Healthy dark red. Ripe but cool scents of black cherry, licorice and menthol. Then surprisingly fine-grained and supple but with its dark berry, plum and spice flavors conveying a distinct medicinal reserve. Finishes with slightly drying tannins that saturate the tongue and build. Strong material here (production was just 19 hectoliters per hectare) but this will need time.

(bottled in March): Strong pineapple and oak spice (20% new barrels) on the nose and palate. Fine-grained, shapely wine with good lemony cut but no austerity. Nicely made.

The 2015 Beaune 1er Cru Clos de la Féguine, which was totally de-stemmed, offers attractive blackberry, raspberry coulis and gravel scents on the nose. The palate is well balanced with sappy, juicy red cherry and raspberry fruit on the entry, the new oak (20%) lending a pleasant sheen and smoothness on the finish. Afford this a year or two in bottle.

(14% alcohol; totally destemmed): Bright dark red. Aromas of dark fruits and licorice are lifted by pungent minerals. The juicy, very dark flavors of black cherry, black plum, spices and bitter chocolate reminded me a bit of Saint-Emilion. Still a touch reduced and not yet showing the texture or breadth one would expect from the high octane level.
