2010 Morey St Denis Les Chaffots

The 2010 Morey St. Denis Les Chaffots comes across as rich, dense and powerful, but with plenty of underlying structure to support the fruit. The balance of fruit, acidity and tannin is superb. Layers of blue and black fruit saturate the finish. This is another standout from Lignier in 2010. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025. Laurent Lignier began harvesting on September 30 and finished on October 5. Yields were down approximately 30-35% across the board because of the cold summer. Lignier reported that the fruit required minimal sorting but the bunches were very small. The 2010s had not been racked at the time of my tastings.
