Tasting notes
Pale, bright yellow. Brisk aromas of lemon zest, anise and sea salt. Nicely balanced but tightly wound, with bright yellow fruit and spice flavors framed by firm acidity. The very dry, sappy, saline finish leaves the palate vibrating. There were significant hail losses here.

(tasted from cuve ; 80% hail loss): Bright medium red. Cool aromas of black cherry and raspberry with a hint of menthol: I was reminded of Barolo. The dark cherry flavor shows a touch of saline minerality and attractive violet lift. Seriously tannic and tight on the back end, and a touch dry today. (There's no Beaune Champs-Pimont in 2014 due to hail damage. )
The 2014 Beaune 1er Cru Grèves, from vines planted in 2006, has a slightly smudged nose that does seem to have suffered from the hail damage as it seems a little enervated. The palate is rounded on the entry with tropical fruit, touches of almond and coconut, but missing some nervosité towards the finish. Drink over the next 4-5 years.
