Tasting notes
A discreet though not invisible application of wood sets off ripe aromas of black raspberry, violet, rose petal, exotic tea and a hint of spiced plum. There is good energy to the caressing yet powerful and serious medium-bodied flavors that terminate in a dusty, youthfully austere and impressively persistent if noticeably warm finale that is firm enough to easily repay a decade plus of keeping. This is promising but be aware that the warmth isn't subtle. (Drink starting 2032)

The 2022 Morey-Saint-Denis La Forge de Tart 1er Cru has an aromatic bouquet that has opened up since last year, perhaps aided by Alessandro offering me a traditional wider Burgundy glass that heightens the red fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, dark berry fruit, allspice and white pepper, leaving the mouth tingling on the finish. Enjoy this after 12 to 24 months in bottle.
