Gloriously cool, yet pungent. Aloof yet confident. Liquorice, caraway, cumin, camphor. It tastes like a wine that will never age. The structure is cuboid sea glass. Tastes somehow blue and green and green marine. A plaited mesh of sea grass and seaweed and matcha and iodine. White-chocolate richness, macadamia oil. An outlier Sauvignon. Achingly cool and surely ageless. (TC)

Candied lemon, sweet vanilla spice, white chocolate, green tea – this has so much going on! Developing beautifully, there is still fresh zestiness on the palate yet proper maturing complexity as well. This may well get even waxier and more bordelais with age, although I love it for drinking now. (RH)

Fermented in big barrels and a little bit in concrete egg. Oxidatively handled. This was the vintage after the fire, so the Sauvignon Blanc was vinified at Almenkerk. The fruit came from Cape South Coast vineyards she'd already been planning to buy and also donated fruit. Smoky, a little funky, a bite; green pepper and cashew and so many layers. It feels like soapstone carved into circles and angles. Sweet green herbs (angelica), with a touch of honeyed sweetness on the end. It's developed beautifully, not a hint of oak – just richness and fullness. (TC)

Fresh, clean and herbaceous with a citrus-driven nose, the 2020 Barrel Fermented Sauvignon Blanc is ripe with subtle oak spices. Medium-bodied in the mouth, flavors of candied lime and lemon drop sway with notions of pineapple and peach before soft green herbs make their mark. The wine concludes with a tight, ripe and food-friendly finish with a lingering notion of cardamom madeleines.
