Score 86-87/100 · Drink 2004, Robert Parker, Feb 1999

For value, Ogier's La Rosine Syrah is a wine to take seriously. Along with Auguste Clape's Cotes du Rhone (also made from 100% Syrah), it is one of the finest examples from the northern Rhone that can be purchased for a song. The 1997 La Rosine Syrah reveals terrific color, as well as jammy cassis fruit, a soft, easy-going, medium-bodied personality, and rustic tannin in the finish. It is an ideal gutsy bistro red to consume during its first 3-4 years of life. Importer: Robert Kacher Selections, Washington, DC; tel. (202) 832-9083
