Score 95/100 · Drink 2025-2031, Kristaps Karklins, Wine Advocate, May 2025
Derived from 50-year-old massal selection Pinot Noir complemented by 5% Chardonnay, Savart’s 2020 Villers-aux-Noeuds Le Mont Benoit was disgorged in November 2024 with a dosage of 3.5 grams per liter. Vinified in 500-liter barrels, 60% new, it wafts from the glass with a deep bouquet of peach, tangerine, pear and brioche. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied, layered and intense, with a bright spine of acidity and concluding with a searingly chalky finish. While this cuvée has shown some inconsistency, particularly in warmer vintages, this year's performance is solid, making it one of the highlights of the portfolio. Nevertheless, it is advisable to enjoy it within 5-7 years of disgorgement.
