Score 89/100 · Drink 2015-2018, Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate, Oct 2015
The 2006 Cuvée de Garde, is a 50/50 blend of Savagnin and Chardonnay, aged under a veil of yeast for 48 months in 228-liter oak barrels. It has a strong vegetal streak with a rancid note; it is quite unusual, something that would not please everybody, and follows the path of the 2009. It is perhaps not as focused and precise as the cuvées produced with Savagnin only. 2006 can sometimes be a strange vintage. The palate feels a little more oxidative without the liveliness of other, fresher vintages, and without the tension and precision of others. It could be going through a difficult phase.
