This late-release Champagne has an array of aromas, from white truffles and oyster shells, to figs, pears, honeycomb and aniseed. On the palate it’s saline and pure, more on the crisp pear and apple spectrum, with a sleek mousse and a pristine, dry finish. Still very fresh. Disgorged March 2024. 4.5g/L dosage. Drink now or hold.

The 1999 Champagne Clos Des Goisses Extra-Brut L.V. is savory and deep on the nose. Aged on natural cork, the vintage could be compared to 2014 or 2004, with a large but pure harvest that ages very well. It pours a bright and surprisingly youthful reflective color in the glass, and I would never guess its age on sight. Initially it’s more savory on the nose, although as it opens, it gains in purity, with fresh aromas of sweet fruit like quince and raspberries, as well as white mushrooms. The palate is elegant, with a lively and refined mousse, a long, floral-noted finish, and a lasting perfume of pastry cream. While it’s drinking well now, it has a good deal of longevity ahead. Drink over the coming 10 years.

A blend of 59% Pinot Noir and 41% Chardonnay, the 1999 Extra Brut Clos des Goisses L.V. reveals a complex, spicy bouquet of jasmine, flowers, smoke, guava, honey, confit orange and exotic fruit. Muscular, concentrated and beautifully tannic, it's full-bodied and has a vinous, structured mid-palate and crystalline texture, concluding with a long, toasty, pure and saline finish. This elegant, refined Champagne is the first vintage blended by Charles Philipponnat. Disgorged in March 2024 with 4.5 grams per liter dosage.

The Clos des Goisses Long Veillessmont 1999 is second release of this vintage 25 years post-harvest. Redolent of ethereal, creamy autolytic aromas with flashes of citrus and flint that with time evolve into notes of raw oat milk, wet wheat and wood shavings. It changes rapidly in the glass. The palate is less about fruit and more about autolytic, yeasty notes that are enlivened by remarkably vibrant acid and lean aromatic notes of wet stones and minerals. While it is a unicorn stylistically, it nonetheless finishes with vigor; chiseled and clean. Disgorged March 2024 after 25 years on the lees and finished with 4.5 grams per liter dosage
