Tasting notes
Mid bricky crimson. Savoury, leathery dark-red fruit. This has the senescent sweetness of bottle age but is ageing very slowly. Silky, fresh, elegant and long with a dry finesse on the long finish. Lots of freshness. (JH)

Dressed in a ruby color, the 2010 Blaufränkisch Neckenmarkter Alte Reben starts very delicate and floral on the nose, but with more precision and freshness than the 2010 Reserve. Everything is here on the nose, the wine is delightfully open and perfumed and again almost Pinot or Nebbiolo-like. Intense, round and silky on the palate, this is a full-bodied, sweet and fresh 2010 with fine tannins and very good purity. Firmly structured by fine, perhaps slightly rough, tannins and a vibrant acidity, this wine develops a very good and aromatic length and complexity. A little bit austere, but that's the crystalline terroir of Necknmarkt. The wine should be aged for another 3 or 4 years and shall keep its shape for 10+ years from now.
