Score 94/100 · Drink 2018-2027, Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate, Jun 2016

The 2012 Blaufränkisch Neckenmarkter Alte Reben shows a lovely pure, fresh, deep and intense bouquet of crushed slate plates, dark, ripe old-vine berries, graphite, leaves, juniper and the characteristic heath or moor. Silky, round and intense, this full-bodied wine reveals an excellent concentration of blackcurrant fruit and a firm mineral structure followed by a pure and fresh, stimulatingly salty finish. This wine has lots of power but also transparency and freshness, although it is still too young to discover all its talents. Keep it for another two or three, or up to 10+ years.
