The 2017 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru presents a very intense nose of mirabelle, saffron and touches of egg whites, plus a lovely mineralité that develops with aeration. The palate is elegant and poised, a fine silver bead of acidity interwoven through the citrus peel, lime and orange zest notes. Fresh and saline toward the finish, which just exudes class. There is a little oak to be subsumed but it will be worth the wait. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting in Savigny-lès-Beaune.

Much more austere on the nose than the Bâtard but really fine and fresh and beautifully balanced. So racy and not muted. Gorgeous follow through. What a farewell to Burgundy Week! Great tension but quite ripe enough. (JR)
