Pale gold. Light petrol, baked apple and spicy radish nose. Very savoury. Rich, full, phenolic, with a touch of residual sugar on the palate. Long with charred preserved lemon on the finish. (SCJ)

From calcareous soils with amphibolite, the 2019 Ried Liebenberg Grüner Veltliner Smaragd is very clear and fine on the complex and refreshing nose, with ripe pineapple and lemon aromas. Dense and juicy on the palate, this is a dense, juicy and beautifully piquant but very ripe and lush Veltliner with a highly aromatic finish yet also this remarkably fresh acidity. Stimulatingly salty on the aftertaste. 13.5% alcohol. Tasted at the domain in June 2021.
