I found the 2005 Chateauneuf du Pape Mourre des Perdrix a touch lean and firm this time last year, but it showed nothing but beautiful fruit and texture on this occasion. Offering terrific notes of black raspberries, black cherries, ground herbs and earth, with considerable polish, elegance and length, it’s a clear success in the vintage and has loads of charm. Drink it over the coming 4-6 years.

Deep red. Seductively aromatic nose offers vibrant strawberry and raspberry scents along with fresh flowers and minerals. Shows pinot-like clarity to its sweet red fruit flavors and finishes long and sappy. This medium-bodied wine is already very attractive.

Ruby-red. Bright red berry aromas complicated by subtle lavender and rose. Silky, sweet and open-knit, showing bright red fruit flavors and very soft tannins. The long finish presents a creamy texture and persistent jammy red berry tones.
