Tasting notes
Score 89/100 · Drink 2023-2029, Neal Martin, May 2023

The 2021 Morgon Grands Cras, aged in concrete vats after 9 months, offers pretty raspberry and Tayberry scents on the nose, with a little damp loamy soil emerging with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, fine acidity, and just a strictness on the slightly bitter finish with a pleasant aftertaste.

Bottled end May 2022. Concrete. Sappy fruit and real salivatory appeal. Just a little more reserved and mineral than the Villages. Hint of chestnut flavour. (JR)

Notes of wild berries, plums, smoked duck and orange rind introduce the 2021 Morgon Grands Cras, a medium to full-bodied, ample and succulent wine that's supple and sensual, with lively acids and a saline finish. It's another wine that shows the lighter vintage at its best.
