Score 87/100 · Drink 2025-2030, Neal Martin, Nov 2024
The 1978 Vosne-Romanée La Grande Rue 1er Cru predates its promotion to Grand Cru status. It is a little musty on the nose with brown spices, leather and molasses. The palate is likewise quite leathery, but there is an element of freshness. Rustic and showing some attenuation on the finish, the Vosne-Romanée is not bad, but it's nowhere near recent vintages produced by Nicole Lamarche. Tasted at the 1978 Bouilland horizontal.
