The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin En Billard has a fleshy, ripe bouquet with red cherries and crushed strawberry. The palate is lightly-spiced with darker fruit implied by the nose, with a fine bitter edge on the finish. Drink this over the following decade.

The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Billard is excellent, mingling notes of plums and dark berries with peonies, baking chocolate and loamy soil. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and concentrated, it's layered and perfumed, concluding with a long, saline finish.

Oldest vines from 1922 in heavier clay soils. ‘To be drunk over ten years, and on the primary fruit.’ Tank sample. Heady, ripe and concentrated. Rich and moreish. Delicious. (MH)
