Tasting notes
Light to mid bricky red. Fragrant and inviting, sweet and spicy, just starting to show tertiary aromas of undergrowth but still mostly fruit-rich. There's a fruit sweetness on the palate too, smooth tannins, light spice. Smooth yet gently chewy. Straightforward, correct. (JH)

Deeper and more serious than the 2017, Julien's 2016 Côte de Nuits-Villages is showing well, unwinding in the glass with aromas of wild berries, orange rind, warm spices and espresso roast. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, fleshy and layered, with a lively spine of acidity and a long, sapid finish.
Cask sample. Light to mid cherry red. Prettily scented with red fruits and a light and attractive herbal note. Pretty and fresh on the palate, lingering if not particularly intense. Light tannins. (JH)
