Tasting notes
The 2022 Gigondas La Louisiane is another gem from this estate. Wild strawberries, ripe cherries, peppery garrigue and floral notes all define the bouquet, and it's medium to full-bodied, with a seamless, supple mouthfeel, polished tannins, and no hard edges. It too has another 10-12 years of prime drinking.

A blend of unknown proportions of Grenache Noir, Mourvèdre, Syrah and Cinsault, all co-fermented, the 2022 Gigondas La Louisiane reveals aromas of pepper, iris, flowers, rose and licorice. Medium to full-bodied, tenser and fresher than Les Souteyrades, it has good depth at the core, well-integrated tannins and a promising finish despite structured tannins that bring a slightly drying aftertaste.
The 2022 Gigondas La Louisiane Vieilles Vignes dazzles with crushed violets, licorice, black cherry and garrigue of elevated intensity. Tightly knit and full of substance, the multifaceted 2022 clocks out with a super savory finish of striking persistence.
Tank sample. Tasted blind. The nose is earthy, spiced and rich – iron filings and damp earth. A slight candied note to the red-fruit-led palate. Firm tannins and a little hint of oak char on the back of the palate. A nice balance of sweetness and savoury notes on the textured finish. (AC)
