Tasting notes
Made of 60% Clairette and 40% Roussanne, located in the lieu-dit of Saint-Préfert, on gravel, pebbles, blue clay and sand, this white Châteauneuf-du-Pape is terrific. Crisp, lemon peel notes, with white floral aromas fill the nose, but are underlined also by beautiful minerality. The palate is well balanced between acidity and energy – it is medium-bodied with pear and yellow peach aromas on the complex mid-palate. The minerality from the nose drives towards a long finish, with remarkable natural acidity. The year spent with Jean-Marc Roulot really helped Isabel and Guillemette produce a wine of high-flying class. To be drunk young but also with potential for the next 10 years.

I was blown away by the 2022 Châteauneuf Du Pape Blanc, which showed even better than last year. Possessing a kiss of Grand Cru Burgundy-like reduction as well as incredible aromatics of ripe stone fruits, pineapple, white flowers, and toasted bread, it's medium to full-bodied, has a pure, layered, elegant mouthfeel, awesome precision and focus, and a gorgeous finish that has a liqueur of rocks-like minerality.
The 2022 Châteauneuf Du Pape Blanc is terrific, with a Burgundian-like minerality as well as classy notes of orchard fruits, orange blossom, spice, and crushed stone. It's medium-bodied, has beautiful purity and precision, good acidity, and a great finish. This terrific white is a no-brainer purchase and will evolve for 7-8 years, if not over a decade.
