Tasting notes
The 2017 Puligny-Montrachet Clos de la Garenne 1er Cru comes from 90-year-old vines. It has to shake off a touch of reduction at first, gradually opening to reveal scents of green apple, pear, orange zest and just a hint of white chocolate. The palate is well balanced with fine salinity on the entry. I admire the energy given off by this nascent Puligny. Very harmonious toward the finish, with superb salinity on the aftertaste. Excellent. (DIAM GC closure)

The 2017 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos de la Garenne (Duc de Magenta) offers up aromas of minty pears, spices and smoky oak, followed by a medium to full-bodied, elegantly satiny palate with good underlying acidity and a long, pure finish.
Cask sample. Floral, tight nose suggests potential longevity. Leaner than most, with herbal notes. Quite refined, lots to chew on. (JR)
About the producer

Louis Jadot is arguably the most consistent négociant house in Burgundy. It has managed to straddle both the entry-level and fine wine market, while retaining respect in both.
