Tasting notes
Full bottle 1,296 g. A single-vineyard wine, grown on clay with quartz seams, at 264 m. Hand-harvested, fermented in 30% new oak and 70% second-fill French oak barrels. Left on the lees for a further 10 months, full malo. Smells creamy, definitely oaky/mealy, but the oak is not excessive it just gives a lot of roundness and some sweet spice to add to the fruit sweetness so you barely notice the high acidity except in as much as it balances everything else. Needs to be drunk quite cool, or at least start off cool. Slightly sweet/sour on the finish. A generous wine that has good freshness on the finish. All fairly primary still. I'd like to taste this in another year. (JH)

Made with 30% new Taransaud French oak, the 2022 Reserve Chardonnay offers a full expression of harmonious tree fruit, offering layers of Meyer lemon skin and yellow apples with a soft undertone of sautéed almond. Medium-bodied, it offers gobs of elegance and finesse while showcasing an immaculate balance of fresh fruit, mineral tension and mouthwatering acidity. This Chardonnay is complex with the perfect amount of oak backbone so as not to overpower and mask the fruit's natural beauty. It is harmonious and elegant and has me coming back for more. This could easily be confused for Burgundy. Wow!
