Tasting notes
(this fruit was picked before the rain as it was ripening very quickly): Purer and more Adrienne than the last few 2013s, offering fresh pear and peach aromas; one really feels the more northern influence here. Nicely concentrated, fruit-driven wine with a rather glyceral texture cut by integrated acidity. Broad, rich and classically dry. Lacks ultimate cut and lift but not short.

Can’t call it Ch de Viré yet. Not that expressive on the nose – last to be bottled. Rich and savoury on the palate. (JR)
The 2013 Viré-Clessé has an utterly charming nose that seems more finished than the others, with fine tension and focus. The palate is very well-balanced with fine acidity. This comes over as being very precise and poised. Though I would be seeking just a little more personality, I suspect that this will ultimately turn out better than the 2012.
