A perfect mid lemon expression, the nose is sublime with dancing stones, and such a dynamic freshness. Wonderful finesse with its pure and balanced fruit throughout, extends so far on the back of the palate and treads with such a light touch. Drink from 2028-2038. Tasted Jun 2024.

The 2022 Chablis Les Séchets 1er Cru has a potent lime, lemon zest and oyster shell scented bouquet that has plenty of vigor. The palate is very well balanced with a sapid entry, and fine weight. It is the most compact of Billaud's Premier Crus and will therefore require more time in bottle. It will be worth the wait though.

Tank sample.  No oak here, 18 months on lees in tank. Stone dust to the fore, herbal, but broader on the palate than I expected. I can see why this is better without oak. But there is still all that freshness and purity. Long, deeply textured, very salty finish. Wait for this. (JH)

Made from 90 year old vines, the Séchets Vieilles Vignes is raised only in tank for18 months. Very backward indeed, and really concentrated. Exceptionally tight, a concentrated confit of lemons, nothing too opulent. This is still ridiculously young, but I am sure will emerge as a great wine when it wants to. The finish suggests lemon rinsed Granny Smith apples. (5 Star Wine)
