Tasting notes
The flagship 2018 Châteauneuf Du Pape Reserve Des Celestins is translucent ruby-hued and offers a classic Bonneau nose of Provençal garrigue, new saddle leather, pepper, and both red and black fruits. It's medium to full-bodied, has a supple, layered mouthfeel, beautiful overall ripeness, and a great finish. It's a complex, layered, incredibly compelling 2018 to drink over the coming decade or more. Drink 2025-2035.

The pale- to medium-ruby-colored 2018 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Réserve des Célestins is a total knockout with a wildly complex aromatic profile of dried lavender, menthol, melted licorice, beef blood, cured meat and leafy nuances. Offering more substance and ambition than the Marie Beurrier from the same vintage, the full-bodied 2018 Réserve des Célestins shows striking verticality on both nose and palate. Built for the long-haul and remarkably persistent on the finish, it deserves a round of applause.
About the producer

This very old-school property makes the most unique Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The wines are fantastically complex and Boneauu made it as it would have been produced 100 years ago in the commune, using methods that familiar to any of the 11 generations of vignerons in his family who preceded him.
