Tasting notes
A vibrant, pure, elegant, yet still tight and focused 2019, the 2019 Beaune 1er Cru Clos Des Marconnets offers most red berry fruits (with a touch of black fruits) as well as sappy flower, forest floor, and rose petals on the nose. The palate is medium-bodied, beautifully balanced, and elegant, with fine, polished tannins. It's lacking a touch of complexity, yet this is certainly promising, and the purity, balance, and just overall class are top-notch. Give it 2-3 years and enjoy over the following 10-15.

Nice dark cherries and forest berries on the nose, but on the palate this is too chewy for us and lacks the charm that might ameliorate that. One-dimensional, drying finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink now, before the fruit fades.
Cask sample. Bright mid crimson. Sweet, heady, voluptuous nose. But not quite enough follow-through. It all goes a little flat on the palate. Perhaps this is just a stage. Quite a bit of dry powdery tannin on the end. A bit drying and awkward. Beaune Grèves is definitely the star of this collection of Chanson reds. (JR)
