Tasting notes
The 2018 Beaune Epenottes 1er Cru has one of the more composed and refined bouquets. Vibrant dark cherry and cranberry fruit entwines with subtle tertiary, almost torrefactory notes. The palate is harmonious and medium-bodied with pliant tannins. A subtle sprinkling of white pepper enlivens and lends complexity on the finish that shows commendable backbone. In this flight, this Beaune is a cut above. Bottled under Diam 30. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 red tasting.

About the producer

Having established Domaine des Comtes Lafon as one of the finest addresses in Burgundy, Dominique Lafon set up an eponymous négociant business in 2008. The vines are all farmed by the Lafon team and the wines generally leaner than those of Comtes Lafon, with less new oak.
