Tasting notes
The 2019 Noble Late Harvest Semillon presents saffron, ginger, apricot puree and quince paste flavors alongside apple reduction. At 11.2% alcohol, the wine offers a nimble mouthfeel with succulent residual sugar. It has a food-friendly finish; however, it requires a bit more acidity to maintain its structure for longer. This wine was aged for 30 months entirely in new French oak. Only 1,994 bottles were produced.

The 2019 Boekenhoutskloof Noble Late Harvest is pure Semillon from a hectare in front of the winery on alluvial soils on a high water table, plus another 1.2-hectares of new plantings that will enter the blend in future vintages. Picked from the second week of May, as they had to wait for botrytis, it is basket pressed and matured in three barrels for 30 months to prolong the élevage . It has 160-180g/L residual. It has a very pure bouquet with wild honey, apricot, quince jelly and light nectarine scents - very seductive. The palate is well balanced with a viscous entry, lightly spiced, fine depth with a tang of marmalade towards the persistent finish, a touch of kumquat on the aftertaste. Excellent.
