2021 Viñedo Chadwick

Tasting notes
The 2021 Chadwick needs a bit of coaxing from the glass but with air pure red bramble fruit aromas and floral tones waft from the glass. The tannins are beautifully refined and layered bringing effortless depth. Alongside impressive fruit concentration, the Chadwick this vintage is as vibrant as it’s ever been. The fruit character is distinctly on the fresh red and blackberry spectrum and there is real energy to the long finish.

The extremely deep nose is an endlessly fascinating tapestry of red and black berries with graphite, savory and wet-earth notes. Super-concentrated, refined and fragrant on the full-bodied palate, everything fitting together so beautifully. Extremely long and refined finish. Drink or hold. 20th Anniversary Berlin Tasting Event, February 2024.
Full bottle 1,438 g. From Eduardo Chadwick's 15-ha vineyard in Chile's prime Cabernet country just outside Santiago towards the Andes. Mid lustrous crimson. Creamy and mineral-layered with a bite of something stony on the end and great vivacity. I suspect that, served alongside a red bordeaux at the same price, it might make the bordeaux seem a bit ponderous, but then it's the same price at Ch Palmer 2021!! Delicate and really lively. A truly satisfying drink that is definitely more approachable than the Palmer! (JR)
97% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Petit Verdot. Aged 22 months, 80% in new French oak barrels and 20% in foudres. A deep purple colour. Bloody, iron-tinged black fruit and a hint of pink peppercorn on the nose. A little charred in wood, and showing Cabernet Sauvignon’s stricter, narrower profile despite the dark-fruit centre. A little stubborn and muddy at the moment. (TP)
