Pretty understated nose, but the palate has a lovely wood-spice, black cherry and vanilla scent. Slightly light (especially for Gevrey) but all in balance. Satisfying. (RH)

(half of these vines are 40 years old, the other half were planted in 2004): Bright medium red. Sexy perfume of red berries, flowers and minerals; smells like a Chambolle-Musigny from white soil. Juicy, spicy and fine-grained, offering terrific cut and lift to the raspberry and saline mineral flavors. Finishes with sweet tannins and superb grip and persistence. Made from a tiny crop, this will be a wine to seek out.
