This represents a portion of Kirchspiel (though this name as usual--disrespectfully if you ask me--doesn’t appear on its label) that stopped fermenting with 14 grams of residual sugar. White peach and lemon are infused with chalk and alkali, the wine’s very subtle sweetness nonetheless being more than enough to underscore the fruit flavors, buffer what might otherwise be an austere minerality, and complement the piquancy of peach kernel in a long finish that ends up coming off as downright soothing. I’m surprised that this isn’t displaying the brightness, infectious juiciness or focus of the best Keller 2014s, but significant improvement may well take place in bottle.

High toned and exciting on the nose. Spicy and exotically ripe and round. Who could not enjoy this enveloping wine? It reaches out to the taster rather than the other way round. Long and undulating on the palate. From the impact on the back palate it is hard to believe this is only 12% alcohol. What do they add to this? Kumquat juice? Great stuff! Already dying to be drunk.
