Keller

About the producer

Although the winery was established over 200 years ago (in 1789), it is only under the tenure of ninth-generation family member Klaus Peter Keller that it has become such a formidable force. Klaus Peter and his wife Julia took over the family estate in 2001 after he completed his studies in oenology at Geisenheim University and interned at some of the finest estates in Burgundy (including Domaine Armand Rousseau). Situated in the town of Flörsheim-Dalsheim (in the Rheinhessen, east of the Mosel), Keller farms 18 hectares of vineyards – 15 of which are classified as Grosse Lage (Grand Cru). The vineyards are mainly in Rheinhessisches Hügelland, the highlands of Rheinhessen. Klaus Peter and his father knew that this region had a long history producing some of the finest wines in Germany and were convinced that their soils could produce wines of outstanding quality if managed correctly.
