Tasting notes
Bright ruby-red. Expressive aromas of ripe red fruits, candied flowers and garrigue pick up a spicy topnote as the wine opens up. Smooth and broad on the palate, offering appealingly sweet raspberry, cherry and candied lavender flavors and a hint of smokiness. Gentle, rounded tannins frame a long, sappy finish that leaves cherry preserve and fruitcake notes behind.

Based on 90% Grenache, 8% Syrah, and 2% Mourvèdre, the 2018 Châteauneuf du Pape reveals a more medium ruby/purple color as well as a classic 2018 perfume of Provençal garrigue, spiced red and some black fruits, and ground pepper. Nicely textured and medium-bodied, with sweet tannins, enjoy this total charmer over the coming 8-10 years.
75% Grenache Blanc, 10% Roussanne, 8% Bourboulenc, 7% Clairette. Aged for eight months in concrete and 35% new oak. Tasted blind. After an understated nose, there is better fruit intensity on the palate, mostly citric in style. Higher acidic crunch than expected too. Very youthful and bright, but not perhaps so typically Ch â teauneuf. (RH)
