Tasting notes
The NV (2013) Extra-Brut Les Beguines is just as impressive as it has always been. In 2013, the Beguines benefits from a long growing season and an October harvest, something that has become exceedingly rare in Champagne. The white orchard fruit, citrus peel, herb and floral notes speak with clarity and precision. All the elements simply fall into place in a first-rate Champagne of pedigree and total class. Readers who can still find the 2013 should not hesitate, as it is fabulous.

Jérôme Prévost's 2013 Les Beguines is a worthy follow up to the superb 2012. This is an especially sculpted, crystalline vintage for the Beguines. The richness, power and depth are more implied rather than overtly stated. In 2013, the key word is: energy. There is no shortage of that here. Dried pear, herb, spice and wild flowers are nicely pushed forward, but it is the wine's energy and drive that elevated it to the highest level in Champagne. What a gorgeous wine this is.
