This is a limited bottling of a 2011 Les Bruyères Vin Jaune 12 Years of Age. It's a blend of three barrels in a medium cellar (he has cooler and wetter but also warmer and drier ones) and three barriques in a very warm cellar, where the evolution of the wine is faster and there's more concentration from evaporation. This is around 18.5% alcohol, powerful and full-bodied, peaty and smoky, with lots of iodine. It showcases the classical Trias soils in the shape of a large wine, powerful and pungent, nuttier and with a big impact on your palate. Definitely different...

The 2011 Vin Jaune Arbois Les Bruyères evokes a pungently nutty and yeasty aromatic profile, paired with dried chamomile and a dash of cumin spice. Full-bodied and powerful, the 2011 closes with a trace of heat on the finish, suggesting the alcohol could have been integrated a little better. Nonetheless, this is a delicious Vin Jaune that sits in an excellent drinking spot.

The 2011 Arbois Vin Jaune Les Bruyères (12 ans en fûts) is a major step up from the regular bottling I tasted last year. This extended-aging version resembles an Amontillado Sherry on the nose, with pungent yeasty aromatics layered over distinct acetaldehyde and bread dough complexities. Deliciously salty and nutty on the concentrated, full-bodied palate, this is such a gorgeous Vin Jaune.
