Single vineyard, mostly sandstone soils. Same clones as those used for the Windansea, but a different combination. Very pale ruby. Sweet and lightly beetroot nose. Lightness seems to be its main attribute. Lots of acidity and very transparent. May gain interest with time in bottle. (JR)

The 2021 Pinot Noir Newton Johnson Seadragon comes from a vineyard where around 60% has been replanted to improve on the original planting material that used Dijon clones and some leafroll. This has a very fragrant bouquet with rose petal infused red fruit, Morello cherries and wild strawberry. This is generous, slightly Tuscan in style. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins on the entry and fine acidity; the 2021 is more structured towards the second half with a fine sappiness that comes through. The 36% new oak is neatly subsumed on the finish. Very fine.
