Tasting notes
The 2018 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru La Riotte has a clean, delineated nose with dark berry fruit, sous-bois and pressed flower scents, cohesive and showing plenty of charm. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, lightly spiced, harmonious with impressive tension and freshness on the finish. Quintessentially Morey, this is a successful wine for the vintage. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 red tasting.

The 2018 Morey-Saint-Denis La Riotte 1er Cru has an energetic bouquet with red berry fruit, touches of limestone and orange peel, gently unfolding in the glass with fine focus. The palate is medium-bodied with quite a fleshy, grippy opening, plenty of earthy red berry fruit that segues into a peppery and quite persistent finish. Excellent.
Tank sample. Inviting Morey aroma that has the perfume of Chambolle and a more peppery darkness of its other neighbour. Super-fine tannins giving elegant structure. Tight, extremely dry but all in harmony. (JH)
