The 2019 Mâcon La Roche Vineuse, which comes from vines around 35-years old supplemented by younger six-to-seven-year old vines, has a light apple peeling and pear scented nose. The palate is taut and linear thanks to the ageing in stainless steel, touches of white peach and almond coming through towards the finish. Fine.

Not to be confused with its counterpart from lieu-dit Nongelettes, the 2019 Mâcon-La Roche Vineuse Les Noyerets derives from a parcel of virused vines planted in 1968. Mingling aromas of white flowers and crisp orchard fruit with hints of vanilla pod and almond paste, it's medium-bodied, bright and lively, with a youthfully tightly wound core and a mouthwatering finish.
