Tasting notes
Deep ruby. Intensely perfumed aromas of red and dark berry preserves, sexy gingerbread, anise and vanilla. Sweet raspberry, blackberry and cherry-vanilla flavors boast impressive depth and clarity, with firm but harmonious tannins adding grip. Turns spicier on the finish but maintains a remarkably sexy, fruit-dominated personality. Has the material to age but this is awfully delicious now.

The 2005 Reserve des Vieilles Vignes is a Chateauneuf du Pape built for the longer haul (for example, the 1998 Reserve des Vieilles Vignes is still aging slowly). Full-bodied, backward, and unevolved, this wine will certainly be even better by the time it’s in bottle. Deep ruby/purple to the rim, with a classic, but tight nose of crushed black cherry and jammy raspberries, a bit of incense, spice box, and pepper, it is full-bodied, powerful, with good acidity and moderately high tannins. This wine will take some time to resolve its tannin but should be at its best between 2009 and 2022+. arious importers including T. Edward Wines, New York, NY; tel. Saturated violet. Explosive, intensely perfumed bouquet of raspberry, wild strawberry and blackberry, with sexy vanilla and mocha accents. Broad and sweet, showing incredibly deep berry flavors and suave, harmonious tannins. Smoky spice notes arrive on the palate-staining finish, adding complexity to this suave, compellingly sweet wine. Wow!
