Destemmed. Tank sample. Mid crimson. Quite rich perfume and then pretty tough tannins. A tad rustic. Lots of acidity sticking out too. (JR)

The 2017 Beaune Les Boucherottes 1er Cru, matured in around 25% new oak, has a fragrant, pressed-flower-scented bouquet offering ample red berry fruit, hints of Seville orange marmalade and a light vanilla note. The medium-bodied is fresh and vibrant with supple tannin, and the oak is very well integrated toward the fleshy and quite persistent finish. This is one of my favorite wines from Domaine A-F Gros this year and it comes highly recommended.
A pungent nose of wood toast and reduction introduce round and supple middle weight flavors that caress the palate as there is an abundance of tannin-buffering dry extract on the moderately complex finish that is shaped by pliant tannins that are sufficiently firm to suggest that this should reward mid-term cellaring.
About the producer
Descended from the Gros family of Vosne-Romanée, Anne-Françoise Gros established her own domaine in 1988. Today her children, Caroline and Mathias Parent, run the estate, which has some impressive holdings, focused in and around Vosne-Romanée.
