Tasting notes
An enjoyably ripe and robust red, with shades of berry fruits and smoky, dried flower aromatics that make it extremely easy to recommend. Structured, rippled muscles, showing generosity coupled with a spicy undertow. Black pepper, slightly drying tannins on the finish but this is a well-judged wine. Extended harvest from September 22 to October 17, allowing full ripeness of all five varieties. Augustin Deschamps has been director since 2007, and doing an excellent job of finessing this wine.

Lots of tar, smoke and blackberry with spices, stones and some bark. Notes of black truffle, sage, lavender and rosemary, too. Very complex. Full-bodied, yet very refined and polished with hot stone and some pine needle. Mushroom too. Merlot, cabernet franc, cabernet sauvignon, syrah and malbec. This is a little tight, but shows polish and beauty. Give it two or three years to come around. Better after 2023.
