Tasting notes
Offering up notions of blackberries, plum preserve and spices as well as hints of woodsmoke and licorice, the 2018 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru La Riotte is medium to full-bodied, ripe and succulent, with a charming core of fruit and refined but youthfully firm tannins. At 14.5% alcohol, this is one of the headiest of Lignier's wines this year, but it's nicely integrated.

The 2018 Morey-Saint-Denis La Riotte 1er Cru comes from a parcel that suffers very little hydric stress, according to Laurent Lignier. Including 30% whole bunch and matured with 25% new oak, it has a harmonious bouquet of raspberry, wild strawberry and light sous-bois aromas. The medium-bodied palate offers supple tannins and a fine bead of acidity. Quite generous, with a lovely mineral-rich finish. Excellent.
