Mainly Syrah, with the balance (about 20%) Grenache, the 2017 Minervois L'O de la Vie Cazelles was aged almost entirely in tank. Big, lush and dark-fruited, it flows across the full-bodied palate in easy waves of plums, cola and spice. The tannins are supple almost to the point of creaminess, turning silky on the licorice-tinged finish.

About the producer

Jean-Paul Tollot & Anne Gros
Anne Gros is better known for her estate in Vosne-Romanée, as is her partner Jean-Paul Tollot for his family’s Domaine Tollot-Beaut in Chorey-lès-Beaune. Beyond Burgundy, however, the duo makes some impressive wine in Cazelles in the Minervois, working with higher-altitude vineyards.
