Tasting notes
The 2018 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Saint-Georges 1er Cru has a complex, complete bouquet with dark berry fruit, touches of 5-spice and a hint of balsamic. Controlled opulence. The palate is medium-bodied with lithe tannins, nicely pitched acidity, harmonious with a slightly peppery, quite nuanced and persistent finish. One of the picks from Faiveley this year. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 red tasting.

Once again, reduction dominates the fruit at present. The surprisingly supple mid-palate of the caressing medium-bodied flavors contrasts with the mineral-inflected, firm and very serious finish where a touch of warmth emerges. This is unapologetically built to age yet the suppleness of the mid-palate should allow it to be enjoyed a bit earlier than usual. Good stuff provided you're prepared to cellar it for at least a few years first.
About the producer

Domaine Faiveley is one of Burgundy’s most important wine producers. The family-owned estate, now in the hands of the seventh generation, is one of the largest in the region, with significant holdings in both the Côte d’Or and the Côte Chalonnaise.
