Tasting notes
The 2019 Beaune Grèves 1er Cru has a fulsome bouquet with vivacious wild strawberry and cranberry, and impressive mineralité and complexity. Très Grèves ! The palate is medium-bodied with saturated, pliant tannins and gentle grip. This fine-boned Grèves shows focus and precision through to the finish and has an assiduous whole bunch inclusion (50%). Harmonious and well-crafted, this is an exemplary Beaune. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The 2019 Beaune 1er Cru Les Grèves wafts from the glass with aromas of plums, red berries, sweet spices and potpourri. Medium to full-bodied, ample and charming, with lively acids, melting tannins and a pretty, giving profile, it will drink well with minimal bottle age.
The 2019 Beaune Grèves 1er Cru includes around 50% whole cluster fruit. It is much more broody and backward on the nose compared to the Les Perrières, the fruit slightly darker. The palate is medium-bodied with ferrous-tinged red fruit, a little fuller than Les Perrières, though without quite the same degree of mineralité on the finish.
