Score 94/100 · Drink 2025-2040, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Aug 2023

The 2019 Barolo shows medium-dark concentration with a bouquet that includes interesting notes of dried flower, bramble, crushed stone, pomegranate and redcurrant. I notice that this vintage from the Marengo family, with their modern boutique winery just outside the town of La Morra, is a richer, bigger wine in 2019. It will require a few more years of bottle age for sure. The fruit used is a blend from the four vineyard sites farmed by this family in La Morra. Production is 10,000 bottles.

Very pale garnet. This could almost be a decongestant, it's so powerfully aromatic. Broad and with really powerful fruit and tannins underneath. Great structure. Still quite a bit of tannin. GV (JR)

The 2019 Barolo is a perplexing wine. Strong vegetal notes and harsh, angular contours make for a Barolo that, unfortunately does not offer much pleasure.
