Score 91/100 · Drink 2023-2030, Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate, Sep 2023

As usual, the 2020 Lirac la Dame Rousse is a 50-50 blend of Grenache and Syrah. Showing a bit more concentration and ripeness than the 2021, it takes the same cherry and blueberry notes and turns up the intensity. Full-bodied and richly tannic but soft and velvety in feel, it finishes long and plush.

A blend of Grenache and Syrah (50/50), the 2020 Lirac La Dame Rousse offers a vibrant ruby/plum hue to go with a great nose of black raspberries, pepper, sappy flowers, and garrigue-like nuances. It's ripe, rounded, and textured, with fine tannins. Looking at the vintages reviewed here, the estate compared 2020 to a mix of 2019 and 2018, commenting that their 2020s were less concentrated than their 2019s, which I wholeheartedly agree with, although I feel their 2020s still have plenty of structure. The 2021s show the fresher style of the vintage but don’t lack ripeness and have plenty of texture. As usual, all of these wines are impeccably made and worth seeking out.
